NASHIK: The Ahmednagar police have registered an FIR against two persons after they were found flashing posters and shouting slogans, which could create a communal rift.
On Sunday night, during a procession in the Mukund Nagar area of Ahmednagar city, a few people were found dancing and shouting slogans. Subsequently, the video of the procession also went viral on social media.
Taking serious note of the incident and its possible repercussions, an FIR has been registered by Camp police against two persons for offences punishable under IPSC sections 504–2 (statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred), 298 (deliberate intent to wound religious feelings), and 34 (common intention).
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has reacted sharply to the incident. Responding to the question posed by media persons related to the Ahmednagar incident, the deputy chief minister said that the state will not tolerate such incitements and strict action will be taken against those responsible.
