The accused has been identified as Hasan Hamza Kutti, from whom the police recovered cash and valuables, collectively worth Rs 1.1 lakh.
“Kutti was arrested from Navnath Nagar, along Peth Road in Panchavati. At the time of the arrest, he was attempting to escape on scooter” DCP (crime) Prashant Bacchav said while addressing a press conference here on Wednesday. The arrest was made by the team of crime branch unit 1, led by senior police inspector Vijay Dhamal.
During questioning, Kutti confessed to have committed one burglary each under the Adgaon, Mhasrul, Mumbai Naka and Bhadrakali police station limits and two under the Panchavati police station limits. He also confessed to have committed three burglaries in Wadivarhe, under the rural district and one each under the Nashik taluka police station and Wani police station limits.
The police said that Kutti has 4 cases of house breaking registered against him and has also been convicted in a similar case in 2018 registered with the Panchavati police station.
Kutti targets liquor, grocery and cloth stores, from where he steals cash, said police adding that the burglar has also confessed to have committed burglaries in Solapur and Madhya Pradesh
