Due to the depleting water levels there would be limitations in operating the pumping stations in the future. “Looking at the low water storage in Radhanagari dam and assuming the possibility of delay in arrival of monsoon, alternate day water supply will be undertaken in the city,” KMC’s water supply engineer Netradip Sarnobat.
“Water from Panchaganga is lifted from Shingnapur barrage. The level at the said spot is 536.50 meters, while the level of Bhogavati river at Balinga is 17.64 feet. The level is sufficient to operate the pumping stations smoothly. But, this water will be enough for the city for only 10 days,” he added.
