An officer from the Talegaon Dabhade police said revellers visiting Kund Mala for the first time do not have any idea about the Indrayani river’s flow. “Last year, at least four people lost their lives. To avoid such incidents, we have started patrolling this year in the area to prevent revellers from venturing into the waters,” he said.
He said the police had also put up warning boards at various spots near Kund Mala.
“We have made an appeal to people that they should not enter the river as the water-level has increased. We have also mentioned that people should not take selfies near the waters,” the officer said.
Nilesh Garade of Vanya Jeev Rakshak, Maval team, said the river water at Kund Mala was risky during monsoon. “Last year, our team had recovered four bodies. We are always on alert, but people should avoid risking their lives,” he said.
