On Wednesday, both Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar had called meetings in Mumbai and issued a whip telling all MLAs to be present.
Six of the 53 MLAS did not attend either meeting.
Deolali MLA Saroj Ahire, who was in a hospital in Nashik on Wednesday, had attended the swearing-in ceremony of the nine NCP ministers on Sunday and signed a letter supporting Ajit Pawar.
“I am not able to decide whom to support. Both Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar are our leaders. I will seek suggestions from the elders of my constituency,” she said.
Three legislators__ Khed Alandi MLA Dilip Mohite, Wai MLA Makarand Patil and Shahapur MLA Daulat Daroda __have not yet spoken publicly on the issue. Anushakti Nagar MLA Nawab Malik is under arrest.
Two MLAs from Ahmednagar, Sangram Jagtap and Nilesh Lanke, were in Ajit Pawar’s meeting. The district has six NCP MLAs. Kopargaon MLA Ashutosh Kale is currently abroad. Two other MLAs attended Sharad Pawar’s meeting.
Six of the ten MLAs from Pune district, excluding Ajit Pawar and Dilip Walse Patil (both ministers), attended Ajit’s meeting. Two MLAs went to Sharad Pawar’s meeting. Several MLAs from Beed district, where minister Dhananjay Munde has a hold, were at Ajit Pawar’s meeting.
